Women´s Perspectives: A Case Study of Systematic Land Registration in Cambodia

Women´s Perspectives: A Case Study of Systematic Land Registration in Cambodia

With the adoption of a new Land Law in 2001, the Royal Government of Cambodia initiated a comprehensive land reform process. Guidelines for land registration strongly recommend Joint Land Titling to ensure the protection of women´s land rights in the process of registration. In this short film, five women, all of whom are single as a result of divorce or abandonment, describe their own experiences of the Joint Land Titling process. By giving voice to these women, we hope to contribute to improvements in the recognition and registration of women´s land rights in Cambodia.

Through analyses, interviews, films and studies, we pursue a critical discussion about Cambodia’s development, and give a say to Cambodian and German representatives of civil society and politics.
