CEDAW Monitoring Report 2017

Despite Cambodia's 25th anniversary of CEDAW ratification in 2017, significant obstacles to gender equality persist. Negative stereotypes about women's capabilities and roles are prevalent across society, hindering CEDAW's implementation. The government's focus on formal equality over substantive equality with temporary special measures is another challenge. While NGOs appreciate the government's adoption of SDGs and action plans, they are concerned about the heavy reliance on dwindling foreign aid for implementation, urging the government to increase its financial commitment.
