On December 26, 2024, Sahmakum Teang Tnaut Organization released a report titled “Phnom Penh Solid Waste Management 2024,” a comparing between urban poor settlements locations and general residential areas. This research focused on the challenges of solid waste management in Phnom Penh, highlighting differences between community and general residential areas. The study aims to promote efficient and equitable solid waste management in the city and provide a clear roadmap for policymakers and relevant stakeholders to address these challenges. Key findings of the report include: 1) a shortage of waste storage areas, 2) limited public awareness and compliance with solid waste separation, and a significant mismatch between waste collection services and waste disposal needs.
